On Wednesday, the European Parliament met in Strasbourg (France) where it approved the motion agenst Hungary with 448 favorable/197 opposed and 48 abstentions. The reason for this vote is because Hungary has been accused over the years of having weakened its democratic institutions and the rule of law.
This vote puts the presupults to activate some sanctions contained in the article 7, which would consist in removing some rights to a member state like the chance to vote.
This same motion takes place 9 months after the same was opened against Poland but it didn’t happen nothing. Considering that now the motion must pass for the European Council and there is a need for a postive opinion of at least 23 European states. Most likely this vast majority will not be there.
